About the Role
You will provide senior-level policy and governance expertise for the NC3 portfolio in support of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff equities across the nuclear enterprise. You’ll lead development, review, and adjudication of NC3-related policy and governance processes, evaluate compliance across operational and modernization activities, and formulate policy recommendations to enforce standards and mitigate risk.
What You’ll Do
Lead development, review, and adjudication of NC3-related policy and governance processes
Evaluate compliance and effectiveness across operational, assessment, and modernization activities
Formulate policy recommendations to enforce standards, resolve cross-enterprise issues, and mitigate risk
Establish and refine governance mechanisms, decision processes, and oversight constructs
Advise senior Joint Staff leadership on policy impacts, gaps, and enterprise-level risks
Lead coordination and staffing for policy documents and staffing packages (CJCSIs, CJCSMs, APCJCSs)
Develop recommended courses of action, responses, briefing materials
Support forums: NC3 CPMR, NC3 IAPR, NLCC SSG, OPSDEPS, DMAG, TANK
Maintain NC3 Portfolio Definition, Security Classification Guidance, Nuclear Posture Review supporting documents
Preferred Qualifications
Active TS/SCI clearance with NC2-ESI eligibility
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (or equivalent experience)
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in nuclear enterprise policy, governance, or command and control activities
U.S. Citizenship
Direct experience drafting or staffing CJCSIs and CJCSMs
Knowledge of AP-CJCS Emergency Action Procedures
Experience supporting NLCC Senior Steering Group or similar GO/FO forums
Familiarity with NC3 Enterprise Review processes
Prior Joint Staff J3 or OSD policy experience
Experience with JSAP and Joint Staff staffing processes
Work Environment
100% On-Site at the Pentagon, Room MA924, Washington, DC. Classified NMCC environment; SAP access may be required. Core hours: 0800–1700, Monday–Friday. Travel: Limited (primarily CONUS).
